“Leadership is not about being the best. It is about making everyone else better.” — Unknown
The irony is I didn’t use ChatGPT to create my site taglines. I only used it to review and evaluate them.
I believe site taglines can really help create momentum, both for authors and for users.
For authors and creators, it’s a simple reminder of the purpose. I find it’s a great way to channel energy and efforts under a simple guiding phrase.
For users, a site tagline can quickly communicate WIIFY (What’s In It For You). A site tagline can help standout from the crowd.
What I learned is that with site taglines, it helps to be aspirational and inspirational. At the same time, it helps to be clear, not clever, unless either your site domain name is clear what you do, or people already know your brand.
Ideally a site tagline is simple, sticky, and memorable, and it generates energy, or at least some positive vibes.
I could go on and on about site taglines, but I want to just summarize the benefits, then dive into how I used ChatGPT to evaluate a few potential options for JDMeier.com
Why Are Site Taglines Such a Big Deal?
Site taglines are a big deal for several reasons:
- First Impressions: A tagline is often one of the first things visitors see when they land on your website. It provides an immediate impression of what your site is about and what value it offers. A compelling tagline can capture visitors’ attention and encourage them to explore further.
- Brand Identity: A well-crafted tagline can help define and strengthen your brand identity. It communicates your core values, mission, or unique selling proposition in a concise and memorable way. Over time, a strong tagline can become synonymous with your brand.
- Clarity and Purpose: Taglines clarify your site’s purpose and content, reducing confusion for visitors. They help visitors quickly understand what to expect from your site, making it more likely that they’ll find relevant content or products.
- Differentiation: In a crowded online landscape, a unique and compelling tagline can help you stand out from the competition. It gives you an opportunity to showcase what sets you apart and why visitors should choose your site over others.
- Emotional Connection: Taglines have the power to evoke emotions and resonate with your target audience. They can inspire, motivate, or create a sense of belonging, strengthening the emotional connection between your brand and visitors.
- Recall and Recognition: A memorable tagline can improve brand recall and recognition. When visitors remember your tagline, they’re more likely to return to your site or recommend it to others.
- SEO Benefits: Taglines can also have SEO benefits. If your tagline includes relevant keywords, it can contribute to better search engine visibility, attracting organic traffic.
- Consistency: A tagline reinforces your messaging and helps maintain consistency across your website, social media profiles, marketing materials, and other platforms. It reinforces your site’s central theme or message.
- Encouraging Action: Depending on your tagline’s message, it can encourage visitors to take specific actions, such as signing up for a newsletter, making a purchase, or contacting you for services.
Site taglines play a crucial role in shaping your brand, clarifying your purpose, and making a strong first impression.
They are a concise tool for conveying your message, values, and unique qualities to your audience, ultimately contributing to your site’s success.
What are the Elements of a Great Site Tagline
The three most important ideas for a great site tagline are clarity, relevance, and memorability.
- Clarity: A great tagline should be crystal clear in conveying what your website is about. It should leave no room for ambiguity, ensuring that visitors immediately understand your site’s purpose and what it offers. Clarity is essential because it helps visitors decide if your site is relevant to their needs and interests within seconds of arriving.
- Relevance: Your tagline should be directly relevant to your site’s content, products, or services. It needs to align seamlessly with your site’s mission and target audience. A relevant tagline establishes trust and credibility by assuring visitors that they are in the right place to find what they are looking for.
- Memorability: A memorable tagline sticks in visitors’ minds long after they’ve left your site. It should be concise and easy to recall, making it more likely that people will remember your site and return. Memorable taglines create brand recognition and can lead to word-of-mouth recommendations, driving more traffic and engagement.
A great tagline should be clear in its messaging, directly related to your site’s content, and easily remembered by your audience.
Achieving this balance ensures that your tagline effectively communicates your site’s value and purpose to visitors, encouraging them to engage and return.

My Take on ChatGPT’s Advice
In this case, I think of ChatGPT as a smart advisor. It’s basically going to evaluate in a somewhat objective way and provide some good perspective to help me figure out what’s important and what feels right.
I know a lot of users like “I help leaders change the world!” because it’s simple, sticky, and generates energy. But I also know a lot don’t like that, and don’t immediately realize what’s in it for them.
I find it works better really as part of my introduction, and less so for my site tagline. And it’s also a great Massive Transformational Purpose, so that can generate energy and momentum.
Some people get excited by “Inspiring the world with innovation!”, but many more ask, “So, what does that mean?”
Interestingly, when I tested just 3 words, I found a lot of people connected with “High Performance. Innovation. Strategy.”
But, at least for now, I think “Unleash Your Greatest Leadership Potential” is simple and clear, and helps users immediately get a sense of the range of topics and outcomes they can expect.
And I think helping people become better leaders, innovate better, and make greater impact, is a worthy cause.
If I can help people realize their potential, improve their influence and impact, and master themselves, it’s a powerful and empowering journey ahead.
Unleashing Potential and Realizing Potential in Business and Life
Long ago I asked one of my mentees what she thought my site and efforts were all about.
She said it’s simple: “You help people realize their potential. You’ve been doing it for years.”
I hadn’t quite thought about it that way, but she was right. I like helping people explore and expand the art of the possible, in business and life.
A short while ago, a friend asked me, if I could only be about one thing, what would it be?
Without thinking, I blurted out: “Unleash your greatest potential!”
I couldn’t imagine anything less. I want to help people become the greatest version of yourself.
High Performance. Innovation. Strategy.
This is the tagline that almost came to be.
It’s simple. It’s clear. It’s concise. It’s topics people care about.
And it’s really how I differentiate in the leadership arena, and help people become what they’re capable of.
But it seems to be missing the clarity and compelling outcome of “Unleash Your Greatest Leadership Potential”.
And I think the fact that somebody in earnest told me the best thing I could possibly do is help people with their influence and impact.
That said I find myself quickly including high performance, innovation, and strategy when I do double-click downs with people.
I find they are topics that everyone can relate to and they help with work and with life.
Innovation. Leadership. Entrepreneurship.
This was also a working tagline for a while.
I believe that the best skills to master for the future come down to innovation, leadership, and entrepreneurship.
Innovation is how you can solve the tough challenges. You can innovate in what you do and how you do it.
Leadership is how you find your way forward, get people on board with you, and scale your impact.
Entrepreneurship is how you find and create opportunities and bring ideas to the market.
This triad is the backbone of transformation and are umbrellas for some of the greatest business skills we can master.
And, of course, if you truly master the business skills, you can apply them to facets of your life, too.
Site Taglines May Change but the Core Mission Remains the Same
As I’ve reflected on how I help people and how I change the world, it comes down to something very fundamental:
I help people realize potential in business and life.
And I harness the power of the Greater Good.
Changing the world is a team sport, and the best place to start is your own backyard.
In fact, I would argue that the best way to realize your potential is to work on self-mastery.
The way I often put it is:
Inner world, outer results
Your inner world directly impacts and shapes the results you experience in the world, and how the world experiences you.
And that’s a relationship you get to work on for life.
